Ever had a pimple that just refused to go away? You tried everything- creams, gels, eating healthy… everything but nothing worked? We have all been there and all it leaves us feeling is miserable and curious- curious as to why are some pimples so damn stubborn?
Well, today is the day we feed our curiosity! Listed below are reasons why some pimples just refuse to go away.
Time to face the hard truth, you are just not using the right skin cleansing products.
TV commercials have got you believing that every skin product is the one made for you but that is not the case. the real magic of treating acne lies in the combination of different ingredients. In order to treat acne, two ingredients are imperative- benzoyl peroxide and salicylic acid. Benzoyl peroxide is your skin’s knight-in-shining-armor as it kills the evil bacteria causing the pimples. Salicylic acid works as an exfoliant and cleans your pores, removes excess sebum from the follicles and calms down irritation.
You are using the right skin products but.. you are overusing them.
Sometimes, in the pursuit of fighting back with stubborn pimples, you might have washed your face a couple extra times or applied face cream a little too much; but anything, if used in excess, will harm you and skincare is no exception. Mixing products or overusing them on your skin worsens your skin by making it more vulnerable to acne. For instance: salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide should not be mixed with Retin-A or other prescribed products.
You need to invest in a face towel... if you haven’t already.
Your skin is a very, very sensitive organ. Therefore, having a dedicated face towel ensures that the piece of cloth that gets the privilege to touch your face is as clean as possible. This keeps the bacteria from your body away from your face. Two key things to remember are- always keep the towel in your bedroom instead of the bathroom and keep it clean by washing it regularly.
You are making the classic mistake of popping your pimple!
Don’t... Just don’t! You know the consequences well enough to keep making the same mistake over and over again. Popping the pimple pushes the bacteria and the pus deeper inside the skin which will only make them worse and increase them in number. We know it can get damn tempting at times but you need to let go of the habit.. for the love of your skin!
As the cruel laws of nature have it, you might be suffering from an underlying health condition which is triggering the pimples.
Chronic acne can sometimes be a side effect of another underlying health condition. In a situation like this, it is best to go and see a dermatologist at the earliest. A dermatologist will help diagnose the underlying cause and provide treatment options for the same.
Now you know the reasons! Take care of your skin and we hope that your skin stays pimple free forever!
