The Right Way To Wash Your Hands

It’s no surprise when I say that the human body is full of bacteria but what really comes across as a shock is this: According to a study conducted in the University of Colorado at Boulder, we approximately carry 3,200 bacteria from 150 different species on our hands.

The above sentence justifies the reason why hand hygiene is always placed on the forefront when it comes to fighting infections and maintaining overall hygiene. Now I agree that while most of us do wash our hands, we don’t deem it necessary to do it the right way. We tend to quickly finish the hand washing process because we have other important stuff to do.

But let’s see it this way: Hand washing is indeed of the most effective ways to restrict the spreading of harmful bacteria and does deserve at least 30 seconds of your time.

30 seconds and a 6 step process is all you need to ensure that bacteria doesn’t come in the way of your health and hygiene.

Steps to wash your hands:

  1. Wet your hands with clean, running water.

  2. Turn the tap off and apply soap on the palm of your hands.

  3. Rub your palms together until a rich lather is formed.

  4. Be sure to lather the backs of your hands, between your fingers, and under your nails.

  5. Sing a song, break a leg, adore your beautiful hands but just ensure that you scrub your hands for at least 20 seconds.

  6. Rinse your hand thoroughly with clean, running water.

Easy peasy, right? I think it's safe to say that your health is in your hands, don’t let it slip away!
