Lactation Consultation

Lactation stands for the secretion of milk from mammary glands. It also denotes the period of time that a mother breastfeeds her baby.

Sore Nipples

A common problem faced by lactating mothers is sore nipples leading to pain or discomfort in nipples. Sore nipples can arise in the first few days or weeks of breastfeeding if your baby does not latch properly during breastfeeding.

Milk Production

To understand milk production and feeding the baby can be difficult for a new mother. A good time to begin breastfeeding is soon after delivery, if possible, when your baby is awake and the sucking instinct is strong. Even though you won’t be producing milk yet, your breasts contain colostrum, a thin fluid that contains antibodies.

Returning to Work, bottle and storage

After few months of giving birth to a child you may have to get back to the work, still there is a way to feed your baby with breastmilk even if you are not at home. Keep in mind that fresh milk is best. If you have stored milk at room temperature and are going to miss a breastfeeding session with your baby, give the milk stored at room temperature first. If you plan to use your milk within 8 days, you can keep it in the fridge. Otherwise, plan to freeze it in the coldest part of the freezer. Avoid storing your milk in the door.
